A patent is an idea for an invention. A copyright is a creative idea come to life. For example, a blueprint for a novel new machine can be patented. An image or piece of art can be copyrighted.

Some things may both be copyrighted and patented. For example, there have been cases where companies have patented the idea behind a piece of software as well as copyrighted the actual software code its self.

Binded does not currently deal with patents.
